Sara Gruen Talks About the Water for Elephants Film

Sara Gruen gets a star turn in the film version of her novel Water for Elephants, now in post-production.

She got to meet stars Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon. Just as thrilling was being lifted into the air by Tai the elephant, who depicts circus elephant Rosie in the movie, due April 15.

“Her trainer told me to hug her trunk,” says Gruen, “so I did, and suddenly I was 7 feet in the air. She gave me many kisses, probably because I always carry mints for my horses, so I was slipping her candy every time I got a chance.”

Water for Elephants Update

Francis Lawrence, the director,  has confirmed through his twitter (@Hibbits) that principal photography is now finished for Water for Elephants. There are just a few background plates that still need to be shoot.

There is also a release date floating around that has yet to be confirmed but mark your calendars for April 15, 2011. I’ll let you know once and if that  date is confirmed.

Major Hollywood film to be shot in Chattanooga area

A family in North Georgia is about to become part of movie history. Carol Cross says her husband and his brother own the home where scenes of the movie Water for Elephants will be shot later on this week.The Cross family says they were approached about the film in the spring.

Since that time numerous film crews have traveled back and forth to Chickamauga, Georgia to scout and prepare the site.”A man just approached him and asked him who owned the house and wanted to know if it would be ok if they considered shooting a movie there, “Carol Cross says.
“It has no electricity it has no water, no one has lived in it for 12 years,” Cross says.

Channel 3 Eyewitness News has learned actor Robert Pattinson, famous for the Twilight movie series, will be coming to Chickamauga later this week to film scenes.The family says crews spent months and miles on the interstate trying to find the perfect location to shoot the scenes dating back to the 1930’s.

Water for Elephants Reporter

 

Hi, everyone! I just wanted to stop by and let you know that I will be reporting on Water for Elephants a novel by Sara Gruen, which is currently in the final stages of principal photography. 

The screenplay was adapted by Richard LaGravenese and is being directed by Francis Lawrence

Robert Pattinson, Reese Witherspoon, and Christoph Waltz are starring in this adaptation. 

If you haven’t read this book yet it should be on your MUST READ LIST
