MTV Hollywood Crush spoke to producers Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey about the upcoming adaptation of John Green’s novel The Fault in Our Stars. “If you read the screenplay you’ll get the same feeling [as in the book], I think it’s one of the best screenplays I’ve ever read,” said Marty Bowen.

“Every actress I talk to is interested, and then we’re probably going to choose the director in the next two weeks. We actually are in the process of those meetings, and I’m really excited about our choices,” says Wyck Godfrey. Plus, they touched the level of collaboration with John Green, the author. “He’s very involved. He’s read every draft. We talk to him all the time,” Marty said. “He loves the script, feels that we’ve captured everything that we could have hoped to capture in the book, so I think fans will be really happy with it.”

On casting, they say: “It’s tricky; you always want to do it with a director. We won’t pick an actor without the director,” Wyck said. “The director really should be at the center of that, but the great news is we have our choice of the best actresses and actors of their generation.”

The most exciting line from the article of all, from Wyck Godfrey: “I think we’ll be making ‘Fault in Our Stars’ by the end of the summer. It’s exciting.”

Who else is freaking out over here? I’m so stoked for this film, and it sounds like they will do the novel justice. From what Wyck is saying, it sounds like they may be going with a known actress for the part of Hazel. Of all the possible up-and-comers in Hollywood, who do you think they’ll choose to play Augustus and Hazel?
