Asa Butterfield just confirmed via his official Twitter account that he booked the lead in ‘Ender’s Game,’ the adaptation of the novel by Orson Scott Card! It was reported back on the 17th of November that Butterfield had been offered the role, and he reminded the public twice that he was only in negotiations. However, he noted that he “read the book and loved it” and that he “loves retro scifi.” Now negotiations have been closed, and he has been given the green light to reveal his casting. Summit Entertainment plans to turn ‘Ender’s Game‘ into a youth orientated franchise. The book (the first of a series) follows a group of the world’s most gifted young people that are sent to train in a “battle school” to fight the alien invasion. Teachers train them in the arts of war through increasingly difficult games including ones undertaken in zero gravity in the Battle Room where Ender’s tactical genius is revealed. Production will start in 2012, and the project’s release date is March 15, 2013. Do you think Asa Butterfield is a good fit for the role of Ender Wiggin?

Oh man. I am beyond excited. This adaptation is long overdue—but that’s a good thing. Or else, Butterfield wouldn’t have been approached for the part.
He really does look like a perfect fit for Ender! Love Enders Game and am so excited its finally going to be a movie!:)

This is one of my favorite books :] This kid Asa, he looks EXACTLY like how I always imagined Ender!!
Summit better not downplay the intensity and violence and disturbingness of the book, though…

Three reasons why Asa Butteffield will not make a good Ender…. as is.
1.Ender is blonde with tanned skin.(fixable)
2. Ender is 6 yo.(CGI)
3. Ender has american accent.(fixable)
Also I don’t want another a badly adapted film like Eragon.I agree he was good in hugo, but as ender no freakin way. If you are going to make a film adaptation of a book make sure the actor matches the character description.
The best Ender would be like a young Haley Joel Osment. As he matches all the criteria. I h8 it how people don’t cast new fresh faced character with talent. I have seen asa, and frankly im not that impressed. Sure he is cute and looks good in glasses(ender doesnt wear glasses so wtf? Im also guessing Meira didn’t read the book as ender looks nothing like asa ). But at the end of the day, I know some of us have wanted an ender’s game movie to be made for so long.. but we have to make sure that the dont f*** up this movie cause i want a sequel.
If asa does an awesome job and if the and people everywhere see the sheer awesomeness that is ender then i’ll be happy.
This will only happen if the script is good…… which is highly unlikely as the scriptwriters of enders game also wrote The legendary adventures of hercules. Which I must say is cheesier than cheese it self.
