Since the news broke that Rooney Mara would be playing Lisbeth Salander in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, there have been many articles about who Mara is and how she beat out other major stars for this role.
First up, Entertainment Weekly has an article up with an interview from her Youth in Revolt director Miguel Arteta. “She’s got that perfect combination of mystery and familiarity that it takes to make a movie star, the reason I cast her was because she had to be able to look at somebody and seduce them without a word. She has one of those gazes where you can see so much into what she’s thinking, without her saying anything.”
The New York Post also had an article up about Mara which featured an interview with her sister Kate Mara who has appeared in Iron Man 2. “I don’t know how this is not going to change her life. It feels so huge, that it’s still sinking in, even people who aren’t in the business know about the book.”
In other casting news, Variety is reporting that Max von Sydow is rumored to play Henrik Vanger.

I really like the casting choices they’ve made so far. Especially Daniel Craig as Blomkvist. He’s pretty much perfect considering the picture I had in my head. I’ll have to see Rooney Mara’s Lisbeth makeover; I’m really interested to see how this movie turns out.
