According to The Hollywood Reporter, the novel has been picked up by Paramount Studios and MTV Films. Christopher Landon, who co-wrote the thriller Disturbia, is adapting it to the screen.
The article also talks of how actress/singer Miley Cyrus is “attached” to star in the movies. Whether or not she accepts the role of Janie depends on Landon’s finished script. Cyrus has most recently been featured in the film adaptation of The Last Song.
Lisa McMann updated her blog on June 17 expressing her excitement over the production, including the possible casting of Miley Cyrus.

I do NOT want Miley Cyrus in this movie. At. All. She would be a horrible Janie. This is a pretty tense book/character. I don’t think Miley could pull it off. And also even if she did, everyone will just say “Oh, it has Miley Cyrus in it, it sucks.” NOOOOO to Miley!
I think Miley Cyrus would be a really good person to play the character. She’s almost 18 now, so I think she can handle it. She really does have acting talent, regardless of what people say. I think that a lot of people who usually wouldn’t watch it might give it a shot if Miley’s in it. Are they doing 3 seperate movies? Or just Wake? Or maybe all 3 combined..?
I’m sure paramount studios and mtv film will do the movie justice because they are big companise they have to get it right because I love this book and if everything sucks about it I will freak! Uhm about miley I mean she is a good actresse but it true people th*t haven’t read the books won’t give it a chance and plus her little fans will only go to see her and won’t care about the plot! I mean I know she can get to charater I only wish that if she does it she plays her to the exsact of the book if she does I’m sure her disney persoa will taken down by people! So yeah if miley get the part I will give her a chance like everyone should plus I love miley!
I’ve just started reading Wake, and from what I’ve read so far I think Miley Cyrus would not make a good Janie but that’s my opinion and I haven’t finished the book yet. By the end of the book I may be thinking differently.
